I’ve been a radio programmer, engineer, disc jockey, and manager. For about forty years, I’ve been helping radio programmers, music directors, and consultants maximize their audience and keep their listeners listening longer to their station. But…
The methods I’ve learned, and the methods I’ve been perfecting and teaching, were NOT being applied to MusicMasterOldies online.
You see, I’ve been thinking about Internet ‘radio’ all wrong for many years. This is not really the ‘long tail’ entertainment medium I once thought it was. Radio is radio. Audiences are audiences. People come for a reason, stay for a reason, and go away for a reason. Those reasons all boil down to one simple fact: They come to be entertained. They come to hear the music they know and love. They leave when they hear something they either don’t know, or don’t love. It’s really as simple as that.
Now that I’m nearly 70 years old and semi-retired, I’ve decided that enough is enough. I’m going for the largest possible audience now. I’m going to use the things I’ve learned, and the things I know, to make this happen.
That’s why you’ll hear a very different MusicMasterOldies now.
I know this change is going to disappoint the handful of listeners who enjoyed hearing 150,000+ songs, including songs they did not know, could not buy, and could not hear anywhere else. To those people, who I can count on one hand, I’m truly sorry. The Internet is a big place. I’m sure you can find a new home that suits your personal tastes.
Let me know what you think!
Many oldies stations worldwide do the same mistake and repeat the same songs 5 to x times a day. So after a few days I’m fed up and change to the next one. Your station seems to be finally the one I was looking for for many years. Great Mix with many forgotten and popular songs from the the US, UK, etc. But…… six or more times a day “Good Vibrations” or “Lady Willpower” is a no go! Think about it ! Good luck for the future and …..keep on rockin! Yeah, Yeah from old 208 country Luxembourg
